How Can Obama Be Eligible To Be President When His Father Was Never A Us Citizen?
September 8th, 2009It requires both parents to be US citizens to be natural born thus he fails to meet the eligibility for the Office of POTUS. If they wish to disregard that part of the constitution then they must pass an amendment to change it, because just disavowing it does not make it any more significant. I notice the democrats like to ignore much of the constitution whenever its convenient for them.

Here’s the relevant clause. Notice no mention of parents.
{No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States. }- Article II, Section 1
It doesn’t require that both parents be citizens, otherwise most of the original Presidents would have had a pretty hard time holding office wouldn’t they?
In fact it apparently doesn’t require EITHER to be citizens. If you are born on US soil you are American – period!
Obama was born in Honolulu, ie US soil. That’s all it takes to be a natural citizen. Your parents status, citizen or not, legal or not, long term residents or not… none of that matters.
Under this Right wing theory, Colin Powell would have been ineligible to run for the presidency. His parents were immigrants. How come the Right wingers never questioned his eligibility?
Actually, president Obama is required only to uphold those parts of the Constitution which are actually in the Constitution. It is quite legal to disregard those parts of the Constitution which Rush Limbaugh and FNC just made up, such as the ‘requirement’ that both parents of a President be US citizens.
So If a pregnant woman visits Mexico city and has her baby early in Mexico in a Mexican Hospital . I guess by Republican birther logic the Mexican government can Say this Baby is ours now and a Mexican citizen.

Unfortunately, he was a bastard child born in Hawaii, which is all that is required. After his father ran off and knocked up another girl in New York, then ran off back to Africa. The Constitution doesn’t say that. It says that you have to be a natural born citizen. Since Obama’s mother was a citizen, he is a natural born citizen, regardless of where he was born.
It doesn’t, just being born on US soil makes you natural born, it requires two US citizen parents if you are born oversees to get citizenship, but you still wouldn’t be natural born.
Where is it required that both parents need to be natural born? As far as I know, it only requires one parent to be a citizen or for one to be born on American soil. Obama meets both of those.

Both parents don’t need to be citizens, you (as the candidate) just need to be born here. SUPPOSEDLY he was born in Hawaii, but since his records are now sealed, no one really knows.
