Where Is The Money Going To Come From If Obama Reforms Health Care?

September 17th, 2009

Did anyone see the speech last night? I don’t remember hearing anything about where he’s going to pull the money from.

  1. That is because he doesn’t want the old people to know he plans to cut 500 billion from medicare. He also plans to increase taxes on the “wealthy.” His definition on wealthy is loose and could end up being anyone making above the poverty level income.

  2. Same place it always does,,,,Now obama said he will eliminate $500 Billion in fraud waste and abuse in Medicare to use for funding obamacare.
But that is a lie,,,,, if there is that much fraud, waste, and abuse in Medicare, then why not eliminate it now?
The money will come from tax increases, plain and simple.
obama and friends will tax everything they can think of to pay for obamacare, and it will still drive the deficit out of the universe.

  3. He is using his own math. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_health_car…
WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama used only-in-Washington accounting Wednesday when he promised to overhaul the nation’s health care system without adding “one dime” to the deficit. By conventional arithmetic, Democratic plans would drive up the deficit by billions of dollars.
OBAMA: “I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits either now or in the future. Period.”
THE FACTS: Though there’s no final plan yet, the White House and congressional Democrats already have shown they’re ready to skirt the no-new-deficits pledge.
House Democrats offered a bill that the Congressional Budget Office said would add $220 billion to the deficit over 10 years. But Democrats and Obama administration officials claimed the bill actually was deficit-neutral. They said they simply didn’t have to count $245 billion of it — the cost of adjusting Medicare reimbursement rates so physicians don’t face big annual pay cuts.
Their reasoning was that they already had decided to exempt this “doc fix” from congressional rules that require new programs to be paid for. In other words, it doesn’t have to be paid for because they decided it doesn’t have to be paid for.

  4. Currently the US has the highest per capita healthcare spending, yet the 37th overall healthcare system. There is room for improvement.
Currently the rising cost of healthcare is mainly due to the inflated costs of medical care. The reason the cost is so inflated is because hospitals must provide basic care to those without insurance. This means they must add fees onto your bill.
Let me be clear. The MAIN reason costs are so high is not a lack of tort reform. It’s not the inability to buy insurance across state lines. It’s not even greedy insurance companies… it’s the cost of paying for the uninsured.http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p…

  5. The money will come from the premiums of the millions of individuals and companies who will be forced to buy health insurance from private companies.

  6. he said that the public option wouuld be unsubsidised and the private options would just be more regulated. no need for more money.

  7. Whatever happened to the money from big tobacco/cigarette lawsuits is the real question.
