It’s hardly truth, its opinion. The bill does not extend healthcare to illegals, plain and simple. Wilson ought to know that. Logic ought to tell you that. If you can’t afford health insurance you can apply for federally supported health insurance. In that process, you would have to register and give personal data that would disclose your status. I suppose you could create fake identification but that possibility exits for many if not all government programs.
The second matter is that it is plain wrong to heckle the President during an address to Congress. If he had held a press meeting afterword and made that declaration then that would have been acceptable, except that outside of the House, he is likely liable for slander so prefers to make his statements from the House – coward that he is.
Because they can’t defend against the TRUTH.
Make an “insult” and they can fight it and insult you back… and the “game” goes back and forth.
Ask them to take a CLEAR POSITION on any subject, and they collapse upon themselves like a house of cards.

That Joe Wilson then shouts out against the president, accusing him of something *he himself* has *already* done, is laughable.
With Critical Thinking I came to realize that decisions are based on different stances and/or combination of stances so what may appear to be wrong to me may actually be a difference of stance and perception of the other person. The stances are:
1) For the good of the majority.
2) To protect the weakest members.
3) Survival of the fitness.
4) The end justifies the means.
5) Internalize morals and codes of conduct.
So when I consider what the stance may be of the other person I am less likely to judge them or label them and can determine how best to approach them about a difference of opinion. Just declaring someone is “wrong” based on my own stance and perception does little to settle a conflict or come to a workable solution to a problem.
Wilson’s perception and rudeness does not mean that he was telling the truth. Just what his perception of the truth is. And the truth is that we pay for illegal immigrants health care because the people who hire them want a larger profit and have blocked efforts to end that practice:

Approved by voters in 1994, the proposition would have denied health care, education and welfare benefits to illegal immigrants. Almost immediately, Judge Mariana Pfaelzer granted its opponents’ request for a restraining order, which prevented it from taking effect.
In her final ruling, Pfaelzer rejected California’s attempt to regulate immigration, which she said is the federal government’s responsibility.
Judge Pfaelzer’s ruling strikes down portions of the initiative that would have required law enforcement, teachers, social service and health care workers to verify a person’s immigration status. Under Proposition 187, they would have had to report illegals to authorities and to deny them social service, health care and education benefits.
The American Civil Liberties Union’s Southern California chapter was one of the five groups which sued to stop Proposition 187. In a statement, ACLU spokesman Mark Rosenbaum said Pfaelzer correctly denied California’s attempt to regulate immigration.
“[It is] not a matter for individual states to attempt to formulate their own rules and procedures,” Rosenbaum said. “School teachers and doctors are not substitutes for INS agents.”

There is no provision for illegals in the health care reform. However, there were no safe guards in place so a few might slip through. But, why would an illegal even try to. Then they would have to PAY for their health care coverage instead of continuing to get it free from clinic and emergency rooms. Furthermore, if a few illegals did slip through and got the health care they would have to pay for it and would no longer be getting FREE care from emergency rooms and clinics.
This is really just making a mountain out of a mole hill. And, as others have pointed out, Joe Wilson has voted in favor of health care for illegals before. And that was probably free care not an insurance coverage that they would have to pay for.
