It was the very FACT his “bow” was exaggerated that immediately made me think “staged”. He took some serious hits, even from Obama foot kissing news media for that one. I mean look at how DEEP his bow is, almost kissing the tile.
And remember how his Staff tried to LIE about his bow to the Saudi king ? They threw out excuse, after excuse hoping one would catch on. Only the Libs accepted any of the bogus and lame excuses.
This whole thing blows me away. It’s akin to people wanting to know when Paris Hilton’s dog takes a crap = it doesn’t matter. This is just the result of cultural differences between Japan an the U.S.
1. They bow in Japan. I lived there for 3 years and this does in fact still happen. It’s not a myth. They really do bow.
2. Americans do not bow.
3. Americans sometimes view bowing as an act of submission
4. In Japan’s culture bowing is no more an act of submission than shaking hands. It’s an act of respect.
I do not think this was a calculated move, but simply an act of respect and not terribly meaningful or degrading. Reading this in the news is similar to reading about somebody shaking hands and is a complete waste of time.
As to how deep the bow is, again it has nothing to do with submission. The deeper a person bows conveys the level of respect they have for the person unless bowing for the purpose of apologizing in which case the deepness is intended to convey their level of apology.
If people want to find reasons to bash the President I would hope they can come up with something better than the fact that he follows customs peculiar to whichever country he happens to be in.

obama still can’t believe he actually duped the whole world, at least a lot of it. lol..he is overwhelmed when meeting dignitaries so he over reacts. he is the leader of the free world and while he should show respect, he should not show deference. he just isn’t that up on diplomatic protocol as yet.
I don’t know if there is an a.$.$. Obama won’t kiss. He seems to have things backwards, he kisses the rear ends of foreigners but bangs Americans in the rear end with-out lube. I’m sure the foreigners love it but my butt’s starting to hurt.
He feared it would hurt his image as being racially/ethnically neutral and colorblind. Which, of course, he wouldn’t have been if he had bowed ‘ceremoniously’ before the Queen of England, apparently. Ya know?
Yes, I thought the same. I believe he hoped that bowing to this other guy would then mean that the bow to the saudi guy meant nothing as well. Very calculating and very disturbing.
