Obama CAMPAIGNED on the promise he would send more troops to Afghanistan.
Bush wasn’t vilified for sending troops there — it was a popular war that the vast majority of Americans supported. He was properly vilified for essentially *abandoning* the effort there to take on an elective, unnecessary war in Iraq, thereby letting the situation in Afghanistan worsen, and digging a deeper hole for us to get out of.
Because, as they say, he is the Magic *****.
