Will The Republicans Work With Obama To Put Together A Bi-partisan Health Care Reform Bill?
February 16th, 2010It rather begs the question – will Obama finally allow Republicans to provide input and suggestions in order to create an effective, fair and balanced health care reform bill that does not pander to specific states by buying their votes.
As always republicans will introduce something, something cost effect, and the democrats will say it doesnt go far enough. That is what they always say.
That is why Bush could get bipartisan bills, and democrats cant.. While the republican Bill spends, so they sign it, and they complain it doeesnt go far enough. The democrats always go to far so Republicans wont sign it.
The thing is we simply cant afford it. we are already borrowing .43 of every dollar we spend. WE dont need any more costing entitlements, or higher taxes until people are working.
If they could people working again, this bill wouldnt be so scary.
If Obama throws out that mess that is currently on capitol hill and starts over from scratch — this time without all the pork, rewards to cronies and vote buying. IF Obama is able to approach health care reform as we the people want him to, then of COURSE the republicans will work to pass it.
I highly doubt, however, that this will be the case. If it’s a bad bill — nobody should support it. Period. Just because it has the name “health care reform” doesn’t automatically make it good.
If they are smart they will send him their list of recommendations. 1 piece of paper that they share with the American people first, and then they should wait for the phone call from O to schedule discussions on each one of those points SEPARATELY.
Each one is a bill that stands or falls on its own. Perfect example: Tort Reform
The discussions should occur in the open in front of C-SPAN.
Then, we can see who is serious, the republicans, the democrats, and O.
note: O can leave his tele-prompter at home during the discussions. This is a debate/open discussion not a lecture.
Not with the one Obama is pushing. Not unless any republican that would support this p.o.s. bill wants to join the democrats sitting on the sidelines after the coming elections
The republicans should all blow off the little meeting Obama has called for.
Say to hell with them and don’t show up and give Obama talking points.
Bi-partisan to Obama means “my way”.
Are the Democrats going to start all over, or do they think they can just tinker with the monstrosity they’ve tried to foist on an unwilling electorate for the last eight months?
If they are willing to scrap the current legislation, then it is beholden upon the Republicans to cooperate. If they don’t the Republicans have not only the right, but the DUTY, to oppose.
Instead of just putting on the PUBLIC FACE of Bi-Partisanship maybe this time he and his Band of Liberals will ?? I doubt that!
Oh and BTW.. It failed last time because of their own party couldn’t get it through… The Republicans didn’t even have to vote.. Explain that…. Maybe lets just say that even bribing their own party didn’t work.. What’s Pelosi to do? hahahah
They don’t need to. If the Democrats like it so much they have the votes to be able to do it. The problem is not the republicans but the Democrats not wanting to go along. They did have 60 votes after all.
This will never fly because the differences are so far apart, there will never be health care reform.
Probably, there will be some kind of watered down bill passed just so everyone can say “we did it” to the voters in November.
Sure, but only if Obama is willing to scratch that 2,000 page monstrosity and start over.
They would certainly be willing. Until recently they were told to sit down and shut up. How did that strategy work out for ya?
I am sure they will work with him just as much as the big O will work with them – so not much will happen.
If Obama throws the old one out. Start over and bring the best of both together.
Obamacare is dead.
Ha ha, no. That would be what an intelligent congress would do.
HMMM cooperation and trying to see the other guys view, what a concept!.
I highly doubt it.
Concessions to Republicans is the reason the bill is so bad right now. Had he just passed his original bill while he had the super majority then none of this would even be neccessary, and we’d have gotten great reform to boot.
No. They’re currently panicking. They’re away to be exposed for not having any policies.
