Why Has Liberals Views On Dissent Changed Now That Obama Is In?
July 22nd, 2009Remember when Bush was in office, the libs defended their posts on here by saying “Dissent is patriotic and an Americans duty”
Why are they now bashing anyone who points out the wrong doings of Obama and his policies?
Because it does not serve their purpose and they don’t want everyone finding out that they are idiots.
I think liberals and Democrats (not exactly the same thing) have always been more tolerant of dissent and a range of opinions than Republicans and conservatives.
Maybe you don’t see it from where you’re standing. But the best evidence I can give you is to read or listen to both parties’ media voices.
Republican media–FOX News, right-wing talk show hosts, Republican pundits in the media, never criticize the Republican Party for abandoning its principles for political expediency. You will never hear Rush or Sean really give it to a Republican for breaking a promise, turning his back on his constituency, etc. They know their job is to support the party, not the philosophy.
But left-wing and Democratic voices criticize both parties alike. Listen to Rachel Maddow or Ed Schultz, and you’ll hear them blast Democrats for breaking promises, breaking faith with the people who voted for them. It’s always been like this, even in the day of Molly Ivins, etc.
Since the Eisenhower Administration I have been hearing Republicans make the argument “Well, you don’t have to like him, but he’s our president, so show a little respect for the office.” I have NEVER heard a Democrat say that. And I have never heard a Republican say it about a Democratic president. It takes a Democratic president to help Republicans remember that dissent can be patriotic.

You see, when we dissented, we were being patriotic. When you people dissent, you’re just hating on the man a majority of your countrymen wanted as their President.

you should provide a source…because all i’ve seen on here is the right wing posting information which is not true…many of the criticisms on Bush are not debatable and still more info surfacing.
