So you're saying that a sovereign nation should do what we say because we lent them some money?
You do know that we borrow money from other nations too, right? Should China get to tell us how to run our country too?

we need to stop giving them money..period. If we are allied with them, then why do we aid their enemies too? American taxpayer money is to fund our own government and military, not everybody elses.

Israel will put no faith in 0bama, or his requests. He panders to their enemies and works to undermine their security. Israel is a sovereign nation. We have no say in their internal policies. Nor should we.

burt prelutsky:
"I hope that when the president goes in for his annual check-up, the doctors at Bethesda will do a brain scan. Surely something must be terribly wrong with a man who seems to be far more concerned with a Jew building a house in Israel than with Muslims building a nuclear bomb in Iran"
charlie: - the US is not giving israel money, its giving israel US made weapons...(but your probably a parasite muslim, you don;t have to much brains...) Another monstrous falsehood claims that America provides total and uncritical support for Israel and that is the main reason that the Arabs hate America. The truth is largely the opposite because American involvement with Israel is far more injurious than supportive. American 'support' resides mainly among the public and the Congress. However the real power for conducting foreign policy is firmly in the hands of the Administration, the State Department and the CIA where a secret war against Israel and Jews has been ongoing for many decades regardless of which party is in power.
Israel's opponents often cite the roughly three billion in annual aid to Israel. They complain that Israel is the largest recipient, receives too much, and is a burden upon U.S. taxpayers. Jewish leaders meekly mumble that Israel is the mid East's only democracy and our friend. Most people care little about that argument. Our leaders fail to mention the following important points:
Aid to our Israeli ally logically belongs in our defense budget along with our immensely larger expenditures for NATO, Japan and Korea and not in the foreign aid budget where it easily becomes a political football.
Aid to Israel is largely offset by massive U.S. military aid to Egypt and our arming of Saudi Arabia, both of which remain a potential threat to Israel requiring Israel to shoulder heavy additional defense expenditures to deter attack.
Ignored in all this discussion is the immense help America receives from Israel. Israel helped us in major ways to win the cold war and is now fighting and bleeding on the front line in our joint war against terror. Jewish leadership failed to compile that story, widely publicize it, and then demand full public recognition from the administration.
It can also be demonstrated that America has received far more help from Israel, in comparable value, than the cost of aid to Israel.

Let me get this right. We lend money to Israel and we want them to do what we tell them to do. Is that right? Did you borrow money to buy a house, car, student loan? If you did does that give the lending Intuition the right to tell you what to do? If we gave them money as aid it is because they have done something in the past and/or they will be doing something in the future like being one of our allies and supporting us. We give money to a lot of countries aid and they are no where as good an alia as Israel is in fact they fight against everything that we ask of them. We give them aid because of some strategic reason. If you were Israeli would you do anything that Obama asks when you look at how badly he has screwed up the US in only 6 short months? We will have over a trillion dollar debt in his first year. Last year Bush had a $500b deficit and that was the largest in history. And here is Obama saving the world he says tongue in cheek and running up this kind of debt in his first year. Just imagine what it will be in four years. OMG!!!We are lucky to have the support of Israel. Also Obama is asking them to do something that they have fought for years against. Should we give Texas back Mexico just because Mexico says we should.

Unlike the United States, Israel will defend them selves regardless of what any country or the UN thinks.
I have a great admiration for Israel's Defense Policies.
Israel is America's best ally.
Obama has been trying to force a confrontation with Israel in which Obama can side against Israel.
Obama said in his book 'Audacity of Hope', “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction what better place for the Muslins to control our country, than in the office of the President of USA”.
Obama knows that Israel can’t wait to be attacked. Israel has to and will respond to perceived threats in order to effectively defend them selves.
If Obama can get Israel to agree to Peace Terms that Obama knows Israel can’t keep and provoke Israel into an attack on one of Israel’s Islamic neighbors, like Iran, Obama thinks he can sway the World behind Islam.

Unlike a lot of other countries that receive some form of economic aid from the US, Israel is an extremely important strategic interest. Israel acts as somewhat of a proxy for the United States in the Middle East, and so Israel realizes that this relationship is too important for the US to sacrifice. There's a reason why the US for decades has gone on and on about the atrocities committed by other governments, yet has stood by as Israel has kicked Palestinians out of their homes, bombed apartment buildings, razed crops and especially recently, dropped white phosphorus in the cities of the Gaza Strip.
The dilemma for Israel is this: Zionism at its most extreme wants to reclaim all of what was formerly the Kingdom of Israel thousands of years ago and have it for the Jewish state. Less extreme Zionism feels that they are entitled to all lands in the current state of Israel, including the West Bank and Gaza Strip. There are only two ways to go about this: a) incorporate the indigenous Arab people into the state of Israel (which in a few years would result in Arabs being the majority population) or b) kick all the Arabs out of their homes and force them into refugee camps outside the borders.

It's not just Obama. Israel shouldn't technically have to listen to us (but is DOES have to follow our laws, which it isn't--Britain recently visited this question). On settlements, that is a matter of international law and they all are illegal and need to be dismantled. Send those settlers packing.
We really should revoke our aid for the decades of violations of international law and UN resolutions, denial of human and civil rights, collective punishment, etc Israel is causing.
Bush I did this to some degree and look what it got him. Doubt Obama wants to go there.
